Amp wakeup delay 1-2 sec, app?
Posted by: bersercci - Yesterday, 07:50 PM - Forum: General Discussion - Replies (2)

Hi,

I miss any alerts or first word of navigation instructions. I figure this is due to external amplifier auto standby and wakeup time.

Is there a work-around or a background app making constant "silent sound" that would prevent the amplifier going to standby?

Cheers

Battery percentage in the status bar - how to remove it?
Posted by: hipkid - 09-19-2017, 10:34 PM - Forum: Instructions, Solved problem experienced - Replies (4)

Hi. I have a JY-UL135N2 with android 6 and recently I accidentally accessed the battery menu by pressing somewhere near the definitions icon on the top right corner after dragging down the status bar.

I checked the option to always see battery percentage, but now I want to remove it and I don't know how to access the battery menu again.

Anyone knows how to do it?
Thank you.

Hiding physical Reset and Power buttons - your opinions
Posted by: Milosh - 09-17-2017, 08:07 AM - Forum: Head Units - Replies (3)

Hello everyone,

I would like to tell you on how I plan to install the new Joying head unit into my Citroen C5 and ask you some questions which arise from this approach of mine.

First, about the car. It's a Citroen C5 X7 (MK3, 2012), which currently has the small oem screen which I am wiling to discard.

This is what the interior of the car with the small screen looks like:

Now, better equipped models have a 7" touch screen in the place of this small one.

My plan is to install a Joying unit and make it look like the oem 7" screen as much as possible.

In order to do that I have acquired another fascia which came from a car that originally had the oem 7" screen. This is the new fascia:

My plan is to place the Joying display behind this fascia so that only the touch-screen portion of the display would be visible. The rest of the display (the touch sensitive buttons on the left side and the two buttons on top (Reset & Power)) would be hidden and thus inaccessible.

I don't like the way the display looks when installed in front of the fascia, as many people do it, so I would like to hide it behind it.

I plan on making a specific adapter which will hold the screen right up to the fascia so it sits tight behind the display opening in this plastic part. The rest of the HU will be placed a bit further away from the display.

The HU I bought is the JY-UMS03N2D

I have just started to experiment and play with it on the table with a custom power supply, so I don't have much experience with it yet.

I hope that I will be able to use the software Back, Home and Recent Apps buttons on the display itself (up on the notification bar) all the time, no matter what the app I use.

I am also aware that the hard reset button is needed sometimes, like when the unit software gets stuck or the touchscreen stops working.

I would like to ask you, based on your experience, the following questions:

1. What do you think, would it be possible to use the HU without ever using the physical Reset button?

2. What do you think, would it be possible to use the HU without ever using the physical Power button?

If you answered no to the first (or the second question), do you think that a physical toggle switch on the BATT wire could be used as a replacement for the Reset button in the case when the HU stops responding? My idea is, since the Reset button is inaccessible, when the unit gets stuck, temporarily cutting the permanent power supply (and the ACC line of course) should help reset the unit, right?
I am aware of the habit of loosing saved stations and other stuff when this is done.

Thank you for your opinions!

  Easy root....

Its funny what you can do when selinux is set to permissive....
I was annoyed by the very "binary" root options available here, and feeling kind of burned out (its been a REALLY long week), so I tried out our VERY VERY VERY old friend.... /system/bin/install-recovery.sh

Turns out that this old friend still works in the world of chinese car radios.

I needed to run a few commands as root upon reboot. Shove them in there and away it goes!

Could not find such settings. Miss it much compared to factory VW unit.

I would not need it much if driving wheel volume control worked properly. Now when I make one click DOWN of volume drum on wheel, volume goes UP one step - one has to rotate further, which also never happened on factory equipment.

Surprisingly the function is needed not only on highways, but also on jammed city streets in start-stop mode...

10.1" Touch Screen no longer works
Posted by: dbarrett480 - 09-12-2017, 05:38 PM - Forum: Instructions, Solved problem experienced - No Replies

Hey everyone,

I had an issue with my previous unit where the screen went dark and nothing would work. Joying sent me a new base unit. I got the new unit hooked up (which isn't the same model or something because it is missing 2 video out ports) and upgraded to 6.0.1. Everything worked fine for about a day and a half and now the touch screen doesn't respond. I can use a mouse and keyboard to navigate the unit but the touch screen doesn't register any touches. I have reflashed the 6.0.1 update as well as done a factory reset. Any other ideas? I really hate to have to end up shipping it back to joying as the process takes forever and now I have to pay to ship 2 units back plus possibly the screen. It is really frustrating. Is the quality usually this bad?
